As a solar panel installer, you will be responsible for installing solar panels on buildings and other structures, to ensure they efficiently convert solar power into renewable energy. Most of your work as a solar panel installer will be outdoors and at height. This is a great opportunity to work with experienced (and friendly and fun) installers and engineers who have years of experience in the solar energy industry. We’d prefer to hire someone with at least a year or two of construction or mechanical/technical experience. If you have years of experience in the solar energy industry, even better!
The job role of a solar panel installer involves the following duties:
- Measure roof and lay out installation area and anchor points with your crew
- Construct solar mounting racks and install solar panels for commercial and residential sites under supervision.
- Plug solar panels together before they are electrically energized
- Assist electricians in connecting solar panels to an electrical system before electrically energized
- Follow drawings, written instructions and verbal directions
- Adhere to strict health and safety guidelines
- Perform maintenance checks and repair solar energy systems
- Use a variety of technical equipment and tools
