‘Dios los Cría’ features covers of Andrés Calamaro’s repertoire, with the warm sound of the trio led by Germán Wiedemer, which tilts the balance towards beats, boleros with jazz, Latin and flamenco details, to adorn the Calamaro catalog, first recorded in the Argentinean rock style with a Madrid feel.
From Julio Iglesias, Manolo Garcia and Vicente Amigo, Calamaro is also joined by Alejandro Sanz, Milton Nascimento, Raphael, Leon Gieco, Lila Downs, Saul Hernandez, Fernando Cabrera, Carlos Vives, Juanes, Julieta Venegas, Mon Laferte and many more Spanish-language singers from all genres of classic rock and pop. This album, in the making, reminisces with music that is only one part of the Argentinian’s songbook, a thunderous repertoire of hundreds of original songs (thousands according to urban legend) that, time to time, are considered to form part of the Olympus of songs in this language. ‘Dios los Cría’ is available on all digital platforms as of May 28, and available in CD and double vinyl format in all record stores.
