We are offering a permanent full-time position focused on community development where you will spearhead, guide, and assist in implementing the Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative (HNI) Strategic Plan. Your role will be pivotal in building relationships, performing outreach, understanding the community’s needs, and working closely with the Healthy Neighborhoods Advisory Committee to bring about transformative change.
Your technical expertise will shine as you support the HN Advisory Committee, setting up agendas, presenting data, advising the committee, and taking minutes. You’ll also manage the HNI grant, oversee project monitoring, and conduct vital research.

Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to interact effectively and build relationships with diverse community members.
- Organizational Skills: Highly organized and capable of managing multiple projects and tasks efficiently.
- Technical Proficiency: Comfortable with committee work, grant administration, and using Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze data, conduct research, and present findings clearly.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong diplomacy, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to engage with stakeholders.
- Experience: Four years in community development, neighborhood revitalization, social services, or related fields. Experience with under-represented communities and communities of color is crucial.
- Language Proficiency: Spanish or another language besides English is highly desirable.

Responsibilities: Your role will involve a diverse range of tasks, including but not limited to:
- Leading and assisting with the implementation of the HNI Strategic Plan, updating it as needed.
- Serving as the City’s primary advocate and liaison for the Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative.
- Building and maintaining cooperative relationships with government agencies, educational institutions, financial institutions, non-profits, foundations, and community groups.
- Developing and implementing engaging outreach strategies using various communication tools, online platforms, and public events.
- Identifying unmet needs in the Priority Neighborhoods and working to address them while avoiding duplication of services.
- Supporting and participating in public programs, forums, and focus groups to involve citizens.
- Collaborating with other city departments on facility management and programming in support of the HNI.
- Managing and tracking the HNI grant program and providing technical assistance on community development programs and policies.
- Monitoring regulations and programs at local, state, and federal levels that impact Priority Neighborhoods.
- Conducting surveys, analyzing data, and making recommendations to improve HNI programs.
- Researching, evaluating, and preparing grant proposals for community development projects.
- Writing and presenting reports to various stakeholders, including council and community organizations.
- Serving as the liaison to the Healthy Neighborhoods Advisory Committee, handling agenda development, speaker arrangements, data presentations, and minute-taking.
- Developing performance measures to track progress towards the HNI Strategic Plan goals.
- Leading meetings with community stakeholders and elected officials.
- Acting as a liaison between residents and existing resources.
- Supporting the planning and zoning department with budget documents and monthly reports.
- Participating in related training and professional development.
