MADISON, WI (August 5, 2023) — The Latino Professionals Association (LPA) of Greater Madison is thrilled to announce its upcoming event, the 2023 LPA Invitational: 2nd Annual Golf Outing. Scheduled for Sunday, August 13, 2023, the event will unfold at Yahara Hills Golf Course, situated at 6701 US Highway 12 and 18.
Building upon the resounding success of their inaugural golf outing, the LPA is committed to fostering an inclusive environment that brings both Latinx and non-Latinx individuals together for a round of golf, while also serving as an educational platform and networking forum.
Why it Matters: The LPA’s inaugural golf outing was met with overwhelming support, drawing over 70 LPA members and community enthusiasts. Yahara Hills Golf Course played a pivotal role in hosting the event, allowing the LPA to raise nearly $11,000 that was invested back into the Madison Latinx community.
Rogelio Carranza, LPA Treasurer and lead organizer of the event, shared, “The success of the Inaugural LPA Invitational motivated us to embark on this journey once again. The 2023 LPA Invitational is designed to bring together individuals from diverse backgrounds to enjoy golf, learn, and connect.”
Enhancing Inclusivity: This year, the LPA is pleased to collaborate with Sue Shapcott, Ph.D., PGA GB&I, Founder of Madison’s Change Golf Instruction. Shapcott will provide instruction for newer players on the morning of the event. Additionally, the LPA has joined forces with the Midwest Mujeres Collective to encourage the participation of BIPOC women. Lorissa R. Bañuelos, LPA Board Member, emphasized, “We acknowledge the underrepresentation of Latina and BIPOC women in the golfing arena. Our efforts aim to intentionally engage and build a pipeline of BIPOC women in golf.”
Be Part of the Movement: The LPA extends a warm invitation to professionals of all backgrounds to participate in this inclusive event. Both individuals and companies are welcome to be a part of the golf outing. For those interested in sponsoring the 2023 LPA Invitational, several sponsorship opportunities are available. All contributions will contribute to LPA’s professional development fund.
